Tonight's Meeting

This week's troop meeting began with our monthly PLC. After discussions last week with the entire troop we have decided to rearrange the patrols for a variety of reasons. The primary reason for this change is to promote more scout spirit and interaction between scouts. It is believed that rearranging patrols will create new friendships, methods, and spirit in the troop. Scouts have already been randomly rearranged into new patrols. These patrols will be announced at the next meeting on 10/13. We will continue to meet with current patrols until the troop elections.

A few date changes have been made:
  • Troop Elections- November 17th/24th
  • Rock Climbing at Reading Rocks- November 28th
Other important dates:
  • Harper's Ferry- Oct. 10th-12th
  • Shotgun Shoot- Oct. 20th/Nov. 3rd (Those not shooting can carve pumpkins at the OYB)
  • Hay Ride- Oct. 27th
  • PLC Meeting- Nov. 3rd
  • Setup Scouting for Food- Nov. 10th
  • Collect Scouting for Food- Nov. 15th
  • Serranova- Dec. 5th-7th

Tonight's Meeting

At the troop meeting this week we discussed firebuilding without using matches. We then discussed the pros and cons of the troop. Some points of discussion were changing patrol names or possibly rearranging people into new patrols. Another topic was how we are doing as troop compared to prior years.

We are currently updating and rearranging our library. Some plans have been made to get a whole new shelving system and all new merit badge pamphlets, based on surveys handed out to each scout.

The next meeting we will discuss the Harper's Ferry trip, and those who are going will plan out their menus. There will also be a PLC meeting starting at 6:00. If you can not make it be sure to arrange with someone else to go and represent your patrol or position.
